When Your Card Takes a Different Direction....

What I had envisioned for this new stamp set by JustRite, is not exactly how it came out.  At all.  Not even a little bit.
*sigh*
Almost wasn't going to post it.
I wanted to create a CAS card where the flower is center stage and had minimal embellishments.
Then I embellished anyway.
And kept embellishing.
Why can't I ever leave well enough alone?
In comparison to most of my cards, I guess it's about as CAS as this gal is gonna get.  ;)
I am off to see Cort today at Misericordia!
My mom and I are taking her to lunch!

Your card is perfectly wonderful! I think this is CAS for you, and I happen to think it's awesome! Hope your lunch with Cort is great!

Well, I think it is pretty CAS for you and it turned out beautiful! I love the "stitched" layers and watercolor background. You always make it fabulous. I'm late, as always... hope you had a wonderful time with Cortney!

Lovely card! I have the same problem with trying to do CAS cards and stopped trying. I have my own style and it is the polar opposite of CAS! Looking at your card, I started thinking, "What would I do to make this the CAS card she wanted?" Hmmm... only 3 sequins, only 2 layers, and print the sentiment on the card... This gave me the idea of placing my elements dry and then figuring out what to delete; sort of working backwards to reach my goal. Since I teach a class and want my students to have a working knowledge of many styles of card making, I am going to try this method to create a class project in the CAS style. When I look at CAS cards other crafters have done, I cannot "get" how they decided what to do. Looking at a card and contemplating what to remove has given me a whole different direction. I think I might just be able to do one with this approach and would never have seen this if you hadn't confessed your feeling of having missed the mark for a CAS card. Thank you for your transparency regarding your creation. It has given me a significant step forward in my paper crafting and I am truly appreciative. Again, I do love all your cards!

Oh my goodness... I am so much like you. It is so hard for me to do a CAS card. I find myself adding a bit more here and some more there. Before you know it, it's no longer CAS!!! Beautiful card. Love how you did the background. . . just trying to figure out how you did it! Beautiful card!
