Chalkboard Canisters...

I should have something Easter related today....but I don't.  For whatever reason this slacker of a girl just didn't make many Easter cards this year. So instead you are going to get little chalkboard canisters.
I purchased a box of silver canisters in the wedding aisle at Michaels.  I gave them about 3 coats of paint.
While the paint was drying I found this gorgeous Poppy flower at the Silhouette store.  I cut the pieces, inked the edges, and ran it under some water. Having the petals wet makes it easier to shape each one.
I assembled the flowers and added a bit of gold yarn and cording, and several leaves to finish them off. As a final touch I used a sentiment from SRM Stickers over a piece of gold Washi tape.
This picture is totally random of my dog, Myla.  But honestly she is the silliest dog ever!  What dog sits like this on the back of the couch?

The next couple of days are going to be a marathon for me.
I am enjoying the last peaceful relaxing time this morning and then BAM!
Let the races begin!
*Clean the House
*Finish laundry
*Prepare potatoes and vegetables for Sunday
*Color eggs with the kids
*Set table for Sunday
*Deal with pool installation guys today
*Final fitting for Cort's dress
* Attend beauty pageant allllllllll day tomorrow
* Get home late
*Have company over for Easter.

Wish me luck!
Happy Easter my friends! Have a blessed holiday!

Vintage Thanks

I love this sweet digital Kewpie image from Crafty Secrets. It says, love, to me. That lil' bunny and his kewpie friend.  Sometimes a hug is all we need to know we are not alone in this big world.
I went back to my comfortable color palette.  Soft pastels of pink, white, cream, and blue.  It's like an old pair of jeans that you throw on because they are broken in. Comfortable. Familiar.
The image was colored with Copics and cut out using a Spellbinder's die.  I inked the edges a bit.
The card shape was cut using my Silhouette. The rosette is a quilling kit from Provo Craft. I also added a doily. The flower was created using coffee filters and Tim Holtz Distress Markers.  I added a bit of ribbon, coordinating string, and a few sequins to finish it off.
I have so much left to do this week and am in a bit of a panic hoping I can get it done.  Sometimes I load my plate a bit too full and then I kick myself later for doing that to myself!
So wish me luck that everything I need to do gets done!
Have a great Wednesday!
Hugs to you all my sweet Kewpies! ;)

Hydrangea Cupcake

I want to thank you all for your kind comments and your overwhelming support.
Sometimes I forget that there really are people out there who read my little blog. Your kindness towards me and my daughter truly have overwhelmed me.
I felt so much love and support, and I was able to carry that through our meeting on Friday.
Our meeting went well.
Everyone loved Cortney including the other residents there.
I left there knowing that this is the right place for her. There are no immediate openings yet, but hopefully in the near future something will open up and a place will be awaiting her.
Until then I will keep doing what I always do. Love her. Enjoy her. And appreciate the time I do have with her. Right. Now.
This little hydrangea cupcake keeps bringing that song, "Happy" to my mind. It is a pretty darn cool Silhouette cut that creates this dimensional cluster of flowers.  I decided it would make an adorable cupcake.
I actually glued a golf ball inside the flowers to give it some weight.  I hot glued that to a half of a styrofoam ball and inserted that into the cupcake holder.
I added a few silk flowers, ribbon, string, and of course my sentiment using my Dymo Label Maker.
I have lots coming up this week. I am having Easter, I am having a new liner installed in my pool and having it fixed on Friday.  (Long story, but I will tell you the winter was not kind to my pool!)  Cortney is participating in a beauty pageant for special needs kids and adults on Saturday. We have one more fitting for her dress this week as well.
I will be a busy gal for sure!
Thanks so much for taking time out to visit me!
Have a great day!
