Happy Birthday!

We have a very special birthday in our house today!  Nope, not the kids or hubby, it's actually the dog. ;)  Myla is one today!  So to honor her special day ( I know I am completely crazy!), I thought I'd share a card I made for Northridge Publishing's Cricut Magazine. It is a card more suited for a young man, not a dog! But I didn't actually make my dog a card.....she'd probably eat it anyway! ;)
I added a few fun little features, like a rhinestone for the headlight and a piece of vellum for the ray of light.
And being the nutty dog owner that I am, I had to take some pics of the birthday girl with her guy.  Kyle really wanted Myla, and it has been such a great relationship to watch grow. If he goes into a room without her, she sits in front of it, barks, whines, and scratches the door.(I think he secretly does it, because it makes him feel good that she misses him!)  They are settled into a routine, and it is cute to see them together.
She is quite a character, with lots of personality.
Happy Birthday sweet girl!
I have an incredibly busy weekend ahead of me!  Tonight is Cortney's Ability Expo.  We will have a booth with all of her modeling pictures, ads that she has been in recently, magazines, etc.  It is a chance for all the kids with different abilities to show off their talents!
Tomorrow she is being fitted for a new portable stroller.  It is a stroller for big kids, it folds down, and is a bit more portable to lug around.  (Think vacations and such!)
Sunday we are headed to the American Girl Doll Store with her friends.
I swear my girl will be 46 and we will still be going there! LOL!
WHEW!
AND I will have lots of JustRite and Crafty Secret's projects coming up next week.  Check back on Sunday for my first project!
XOXO

Vintage Take on the Same Card!

Good morning! As promised I have a second take on Monday's card.  This version is much more my style.....shabby.  ;)  I used a fluffy pink yarn as my "thread."  I used this gorgeous Prima flower, a doily, ribbon and a couple of stick pins to finish it off.  It was a fairly simple card to make, and I was happy with the results.
Cort's prom is not until the beginning of May, but last year we waited a bit too long and the dresses were picked over.  So I am glad we went early enough to find a dress that we all could agree on.  (My husband has strong opinions about what she should wear!) ;)
I love the shading of blue, the tulle, and the sequins.  It is a color that works for her.
I have to laugh because my husband said to me, "Now we just need to go to Charmin' Charlies for accessories."  LOL! Now that's an involved Dad! ;)
I am keeping it short and sweet today.  I have to shovel all of the very wet snow off my van and driveway before heading to work.  : O
Have a great day!!!

Happy Colors!

I don't often use bright colors, but lately, I have been drawn to them.  Maybe because they invoke a feeling of energy, spirit, and happiness.  I found this adorable spool cut over at the Silhouette store and knew I had to purchase it.  I have another version of this card coming on Wednesday.  Completely opposite of today's bright color scheme.
I had this bright yarn in my stash and used it as my "thread."  The quilled flower is by Provo Craft.  I added a fun polka dot ribbon and a bit of lace.

Cortney had her Hawaiian Luau this past Friday night with her BFF, Patty.  They met up with lots of kids from their school.  It is such a great event hosted by her school.  They assign
one-on-one aides to the students who need it.  (Like Cort): )
The kids dance and enjoy being together.
Cort talked about it for days before and couldn't wait to go.  It makes me happy when she has opportunities like this.
And of course I couldn't resist taking a few photos of her before the party.
We also purchased her prom dress this weekend.  I am hoping to share some pics with you soon!
Have a great day my friends!
XOXO
