Using Negative Space....

Good morning to you! I have a card to share with you today that uses the negative space of a Cricut cut. I love this dragonfly from the Martha Stewart's All Occasions Cake Art cartridge. I used the dragonfly for another project and couldn't part with the negative piece. I tucked a piece of lace behind it as well as some Crate paper. I also added a button tied with twine and glued a tiny Prima flower to the top of that. I hand stitched the perimeter of the square and gave it a few brush strokes of paint to shabby it up a bit. I popped the image on pop dots to give it a shadow box effect. I matted the image using a Spellbinder's scalloped die. I tied a pink ribbon to finish it off!

And this most certainly is a happy day! Today is prom day! Cort is having her hair done, girlfriends over, and of course her "boyfriend!" I am setting up my photography backdrop and hoping that I get a few good shots of my girl with her friends!

On Saturday, I am heading to a Cricut Circle crop at the Archivers in Downer's Grove! I am looking forward to meeting fellow Cricut Circle DT member Juliana Michaels and hanging with the ladies from the Circle! My plan is to color with my Copics.....and of course talk..... A LOT! ; )

Have a great weekend!

Prom LO and Video!

Good morning! I am going to apologize in advance for posting more prom stuff........because I just can't help myself! Friday is Cortney's prom and I am sure I will have more pics to share of her next week! On top of that my girl is turning Sweet 16 next week! These years with her have been such a mixed bag of tricks and I have certainly had my share of tears and heartaches.....and maybe that is why when these sweet little tidbits find their way into my life.....I embrace them so! So if you are utterly sick of hearing and seeing about Cort's prom......it's not too late to turn away! ; )

Last week I shared with you the pics of how Cort was asked to prom.....with a gigantic poster and a dozen roses! So sweet......that I had to scrap them right away! I used bits and pieces from my stash. A bit of stamping, glimmer misting.....and glitter. Always, always, glitter! ; )
I love popping up certain elements with dimensional foam squares.....I love the added depth!

A left over butterfly cut from my Cricut.....and glittered buttons.

And last but not least, Cort's teacher videoed "Jimbo" asking Cort to prom. He has a language device to ask her......Cort has one, but didn't wait to find the correct button for her response.....you will hear her response verbally as clear as day! ; ) I warn you.....the video is about 3 minutes long.......

Thank you for letting me share a bit of sweetness with you..........

Crafty Secret's DT Challenge....Paper Piecing!

Good morning! I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter! Today the Crafty Secret's DT is using paper piecing on their cards. I love paper piecing because it creates such wonderful texture to things that can be difficult to achieve with markers or pencils alone. For my card today I used the Little Boy stamp set by Crafty Secrets. I paper pieced the kite using paper from K & Company, added glossy accents to it, and sprinkled a generous helping of glitter. (Maybe I should have refrained from using glitter? Since it is a boy's card? .......................nah!) His clothes were also paper pieced. Before adhering the clothes, I inked the edges a bit to give it a bit of depth.
Sometimes the little things make a card special....... so I try to keep that in mind when I am creating. So for the kite, I added string to his "kite holder." Is there a technical term for that thingy? ; )
